Workshops

Learn new skills, stories, and more at one of our future workshops!

Sew-it-yourself Workshop

From January until May of 2023, a children's pop-up exhibit is traveling to the five libraries in the county. The exhibit tells the stories behind some popular and early toys of the 20th century. In conjunction with the pop-up exhibit, we are holding two workshop opportunities to make your own toy!

One of the toys highlighted in the exhibit is the Tabby Cat, a sew-it-yourself style toy originating in 1892. We have worked with a local artist to create a jackrabbit pattern to cut out, sew together, and decorate. For those that haven't quite conquered scissors or sewing skills, we will prepare a jackrabbit for them to decorate. The premade jackrabbits are recommended for ages under 8.

Skills taught at the workshop:

Precision cutting

Hand-sewing

Transforming objects from 2D to 3D
