About the event

An archeological investigation will be held at the 1910 jail from May 7th through 10th. The site will be open to the general public on Saturday, May 10th. Later that evening, we will celebrate our archeological findings, which will be located across the street from the jail at the historic Royal Theater. At the event, the archeologists will give a lecture and PowerPoint presentation regarding the jail’s historical importance and the archeological findings of the project. The event will culminate in an evening of libations, food, and music. A bluegrass band composed of well-known Texas musicians, who have recorded and shared a stage with Asleep at the Wheel, Jason Boland, The Deer, and Wood & Wire, will headline the celebration with a local opener.
